Indian Trail Improvement District is an independent special district, which is a form of local government. It’s “special” in that is was created for a specific purpose: to maintain drainage, roads and parks, in ITID’s case. Its boundaries include about 17,000 lots, which more or less include the unincorporated community of The Acreage/Loxahatchee.
Because ITID is a local government entity, it’s largely funded by tax dollars and the members of its board of supervisors are elected officials. In other words, residents of The Acreage/Loxahatchee are ITID constituents and the supervisors work for and are accountable to our residents.
