The next meeting of the Acreage Landowners Association (ALA) will include a special presentation by representatives from HCA’s Palms West Hospital LP.
The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the main ITID building — 13476 61st St. N., West Palm Beach, FL 33412. It is open to the public, not just ALA members, and all residents of The Acreage/Loxahatchee are encouraged to attend.
The presentation is about a proposed freestanding emergency department (FSED) that would be built on Orange Boulevard, immediately east of the dental practice and across the street from the library.
A freestanding emergency department is affiliated with a hospital but not located on the same premises as a hospital. So it’s essentially a satellite location that functions just like a hospital ER but is not attached to a hospital.
Currently, Palms West Hospital has a request for a countywide zoning-related change pending with the county. If approved, it would enable developers to build freestanding emergency departments on any land in unincorporated areas that has commercial-low zoning, paving the way for the FSED on Orange.
That building would have 11,322 square feet, according to site plans that Palms West Hospital representatives presented to the Indian Trail Improvement District Board of Supervisors last week (pictured above).
The property on which this freestanding emergency department would be built comprises two parcels with a total area of 1.58 acre:
To learn more about the development proposal or the proposed countywide change, please attend Tuesday’s ALA meeting. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions directly.
