Palm Beach County commissioners will vote on a controversial project called West End Crossing on Thursday, Aug. 28.
This plaza is slated to include a 12-pump gas station and nearly 5,000-square-foot convenience store at the southeast corner of Northlake Boulevard and Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.
If the commissioners allow West End Crossing to proceed, it’s bound to risk groundwater contamination, court riffraff and crime, increase traffic congestion and car accidents, and decrease property values in The Acreage/Loxahatchee. Not to mention the other problems with the project, some of which the Acreage Landowners Association (ALA) detailed in articles published on June 17 and July 19.
If you oppose this project, now is the time to take a stand.
The most effective way to do that is to either:
- Comment on the record (speak in person) at the Aug. 28 public hearing about West End Crossing.
- Submit a written comment for the record.
How to speak at the Aug. 28 public hearing
To comment in person during the public hearing for West End Crossing, you must attend the commissioners’ meeting.
We ask that you wear a WHITE shirt. We will be sitting together to show solidarity.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. and take place at Palm Beach County’s Governmental Center, which is located at 301 N. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. Go to the commission chambers on the sixth floor, and be prepared to wait while the commissioners address other meeting agenda items.
Slightly more information, as well as the meeting agenda, is available at https://discover.pbc.gov/pzb/zoning/Pages/BCC-Hearings-Meetings.aspx.
How to submit a written comment for the record
If you can’t attend the public hearing, email your comment to the county planners assigned to the West End Crossing proposal: Nancy Frontany Bou ( NFrontanyBou@pbc.gov ) and Bryce Van Horn ( BVanHorn@pbc.gov ).
You must email your comment to them by Wednesday, Aug. 27Â in order for them to submit your comment into the record at the public hearing.
Be sure to tell them you are commenting on “West End Crossing MUPD” for the Aug. 28 public hearing and specify why you oppose it.
